Alright, Here’s the 411 folks. I started an Ecommerce business in 2025 and i’m loving it.

Why did I do that?

I work at one of the biggest retailers in the world as a Store Manager. I make good money, and I do pretty well in my role. But I have a boss, I have staff, and I am required to be at a location 30 minutes from my home for 40 hours a week. All to increase shareholder value and to buy in to this CULTure that a few execs have manipulated. I hope you can understand that after 7 years of this, I cracked. My happiness is not worth the 6 figures I was making, So i spent a few weeks on my yearly appointed leave figuring out how I would escape this vortex of depression and responsibility.

IF YOU HAVE EVER GOOGLED HOW TO MAKE MONEY AT HOME BEFORE, YOU WOULD KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT.

For those of you who don’t know it is a deep dark hole of self-help, grind-set, pyramid scheme rubbish. There is also soooooo much drops hipping (ecommerce) content.

So I took the bait and spent hours watching videos and reading blogs about ecommerce. Most of the content warning people not to do it, ecommerce is dead is the most common phrase linked to this business. Thats when I took the challenge. I don’t think ecommerce is dead, Its more engaged with than ever with customers. I just think the ease of success is dead.

My challenge

I decided to take this as a challenge and attacked my business from a different lens. My ultimate goal is to help small businesses with their marketing, so the best thing for me to do is get my hands dirty, create a business with little capital investment and learn those marketing skills on the job. I have the theory from my degree, but lets take it to the streets and earn some money.

The last 5 months have been an outrageous series of failures and learnings, which have resulted in customers buying some of my shit. One thing was made very clear to me, that most useful information Is stuck behind a paywall and not easily accessible. So I hope to use this blog as a document of my journey from where I was (refer to top of page), to where I aim to be.

I’m not saying this is the best, the only, or a great way to start an ecommerce business.

All I’m saying is this is how I’ve done it, and I sincerely hope that over the next few months I write something that helps at least some of you out on your journey.

This is how I started my Ecommerce business from scratch.

Thanks,

Dash
